High Ropes Course

High Ropes Zip Line

Thanks to an anonymous benefactor, a new high ropes course and rock climbing wall were built at CWP and first used during resident camp 2007.

Participating in a challenge course is based on a progression af activities in accordance with the participant's skills, experience, ability, size, maturity, and age. As the participant "stretches" herself by participating in this personal development and team-building activity, she grows in confidence and self esteem. Other skills being developed include trust, communication, and problem solving, among others.

Course Procedures

Please review all guidelines pertaining to ropes/challenge courses located in Safety-Wise, page 99. The Challenge course is available for Girl Scout Brownies through Ambassadors. $5 fee payable to the council per participant for use of the ropes/challenge course. This fee includes usage of all needed equipment, but does not include facilitator fees. Facilitator fees of $10 per hour are paid directly to each facilitator. A minimum of two (2) facilitators is needed to facilitate a ropes/challenge course program. Brownies may only climb on the wall. Juniors - Ambassadors may participate in all activities at the course.

Due to the extensive nature and certification this course requires, the council only has a limited number of certified facilitators. The council will make every effort to secure a facilitator for your troop's outing. Individuals interested in learning how to become a trained facilitator, please contact the V.P. of Properties.

Note: All participants must submit a Ropes/Challenge Course permission form to participate in this program. Participants must wear helmets, tennis shoes, and remove all jewelry and loose clothing.
