Join us for Rhapsody in Green gala

Girl Scouts Louisiana East invites its friends and supporters to “a Night of Glitz, Glamour, and Girl Scouting” at the second annual Rhapsody in Green gala. The gala will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Louisiana Children’s Museum, preceded by a patron party from 7 to 8 p.m.

Rhapsody in Green is being co-chaired this year by board member and second vice chair Peggy Armstrong and husband Robert, and the master of ceremonies is WWL-TV news anchor Eric Paulsen assisted by awards presenter Nancy Parker.

According to Armstrong, the night will be filled with live musical entertainment by Wanda Rouzan and Kermit Ruffins, a silent auction and raffle, along with delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Honorees include gentlemen who have positively impacted the Girl Scout Movement. They include State Representative Austin Badon, Jr. (D-Eastern New Orleans); Kenneth Carter, Esquire; Ron Guillory, Director of Human Resources, Public Affairs and Security, Valero Energy Corporation; Corey Hebert, MD, Medical Director, Louisiana Recovery School District; William A. Oliver, President, AT&T Louisiana; Dr. William W. Sutton, retired educator, and Judge Melvin Zeno, 24th Judicial District, Division P.

Sponsors at the Senior level are AT&T Louisiana and Valero Energy Corporation; Brownie sponsors include the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation, and Baton Rouge Printing, Jacquelyn Daniels and Freeport-McMoRan are Daisy sponsors. Media sponsors include nola.com. Additional gala sponsors are still needed.

Tickets are $100 per person; however, currently registered adult Girl Scout members may purchase gala tickets for $75 per person. Tickets are available for purchase online or can be purchased at the Girl Scout Service Center at 841 S. Clearview Parkway, Jefferson or its Regional Service Center at 545 Colonial Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. All proceeds will go to fund ongoing programs for Girl Scouts throughout southeast Louisiana.
